A Cloud in Trousers is a new play by Steve Trafford about the Russian Futurist poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, and his relationships with Lili and Osip Brik. A Cloud in Trousers starts in the Stray Dog café and takes you to Moscow where this extraordinary threesome are living out a passionate and troubled ménage à trois. Whilst outside, on the streets, three hundred million people are changing the world, turning it upside down in the Bolshevik revolution, these three are trying to realise their revolutionary ideal of free love, without possessiveness, without jealousy.

Mayakovsky, who began as a 'punk poet', a 'Futurist', revelling in revolution – 'Pub crawlers pull your hands from your pants/ Grab bombs, cobblestones, scythes or instead/ Those of you who haven't got arms or hands/ Batter at the walls with your heads' - became celebrated as the greatest Russian poet of the 20th century.
